the job:
The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for creating procedures and testing methodologies to ensure our product is always ofthe highest quality and that our manufacturers are adhering to our strict standards. This includes inspections on receipt of goods, developing and implementing QC processes at our factories and working with our product development team to make sure our product is exactly what we say it is.
location: Brooklyn, NY (can work remotely)
salary: $115,000 - $135,000 + benefits
what you'll do
- Constantly evaluate, modify and execute a very self-directed plan to meet the rapidly changing product line and production demands of our brand while making progress towards long term initiatives
- Review financial and operational results on customer complaints
- Review analysis of activities, costs and operations and assist in forecasting risk from warranty activities
- Work closely with product development, logistics and manufacturing to identify and investigate quality issues
- Work directly with vendors to document control processes implemented to mitigate issues
- Review the production shcedule for volume with manufacturing and manage priorities of quality inspectors on the floor
- Generate daily metric for first pass yield
- Monitor daily metrics: safety, on time delivery and productivity
- Meet with staff to understand the root cause of issues and resolution plans
- Develop long term, immediate term and short-term plans for enterprise-wide QC
- Participate in and oversee processes to strategically evaluate employees in assigned area for development and succession
- Review and approve preparations of accounting analysis: for budgetary planning and implementation, capital requests on new production lines or inspection process, financial reporting, budgetary planning
- Analyz training needs and develop training plan for internal logistics teams as well as external manufacturers
- Maintain a computerized files in excel, word, SAP, Access and other applications
- Investigate all customer complaints to a root cause
- Attend the warranty reduction meetings and lead the team to continuously address warranty root cause issues
- Report ro senior staff on financial impact, frequency and action steps taken by the team
must haves:
- 8+ years of experience in quality control within CPG or similar field
- Bachelor's degree in quality assurance, Quality Management, Engineering or related field
- A broad experience with implementation of quality and continuous improvement processes across an organization.
- Proven track record of successful process improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of quality management systems that support standards such as US FDA Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices (this will include up and coming MoCRA GMP requirements), International ISO 22716
- Experience in supporting manufacturing through multiple product cycles.
- Experience with quality inspection points in manufacturing, cosmetic criteria, yield metrics and reporting.
- Experience building and managing relationships with domestic and international suppliers
- Ability to make good judgment regarding product quality and evaluate standards
- Enthusiasm to get a hands-on understanding of complex problems to develop solutions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, fast paced environment to maximize effectiveness
- Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Innate attention to detail and organization
