As the Quality Control Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing lab preparation activities and analyses to maintain the quality and safety of food products, effectively communicating with co-workers, performing a variety of analytical tests on finished goods, raw materials, and packaging, working in both a team environment and independently as needed, and actively working to encourage a culture of quality and safety amongst co-workers.

About the Opportunity:
As the Quality Control Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing lab preparation activities and analyses to maintain the quality and safety of food products, effectively communicating with co-workers, performing a variety of analytical tests on finished goods, raw materials, and packaging, working in both a team environment and independently as needed, and actively working to encourage a culture of quality and safety amongst co-workers.
What You ll Do:
- Receives and tests incoming raw materials to include flavors, bulk sugar, and packaging
- Performs analytical and organoleptic tests of finished products
- Conducts start-up checks of the production line and continues monitoring quality throughout production run
- Test finished products for quality and able to provide information to adjust batches if necessary
- Help maintain inventory of laboratory supplies. Notify purchasing when supplies are needed
- Keep laboratory equipment operating by performing daily calibrations.
- Responsible for laboratory record keeping and documentations
- Performs microbiological testing of finished goods and raw materials.
- Conduct ATP testing of environment and food contact equipment.
- Understands and follows all applicable GMP s, GLP s, and SSOP s
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Communicates effectively with all departments to support quality and food safety at all times
- Responsible for ensuring food safety and notifying production and quality management of food safety risks
- Other duties as assigned
- Upholds, inspires, and rewards adoption of company mission and values in the workplace.
- A.S. or B.S. Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Related Field
- 1+ years in a laboratory environment (preferably in food manufacturing quality experience)
- Good mathematical skills, reading comprehension and proficiency in required computer systems (Excel, Word, Windows, Data Base Systems)
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Attention to detail and the ability to discern variation in color, taste and aroma
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond positively to changes in daily duties and workload
- Ability to stand, reach, walk, and stoop, as well as push, pull, lift and carry up to 10 pounds
- Occasional lifting of containers up to 50 pounds
- Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift
- Climbing and balancing on ladders
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed
- Can work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
