Quality Assurance Analyst
SmartCOP, Inc - Remote
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team. As a QA Engineer at SmartCOP, you will be placed into a small development team for our Records Management System software used by law enforcement and conservation enforcement agencies nationwide.
Primary Functions:
Reporting to the RMS Team Lead, the QA key responsibilities will include:
Test work items submitted by engineering and regression test products prior to release.
Document software bugs and enhancements.
Create product release notes.
Present live demonstrations for new release features to customers and peers.
Work with the Support Team to troubleshoot reported issues and to apply solutions to resolve the issues.
Create and execute in-depth test scripts to identify and resolve software defects working in conjunction with internal and external resources as appropriate.
Report the progress of and manage the resolution of defects found through phases of the software development life cycle.
Establish and manage test activity schedules and coordinate usage and availability of test environments/facilities.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge of PC and LAN environments primarily using Windows Server and Windows Operating Systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs and the proven ability to effectively use software applications for data entry, data analysis, word processing, presentations, and calculations.
Preferred Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Working knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
Client/Server, Web, and Mobile application knowledge.
Agile experience.
Source control experience.
Desired Job Specific Competencies & Skills:
Prior law enforcement experience, preferably with SmartCOP software.
Knowledgeable of concept practices and procedures commonly used in software quality assurance.
Effective testing skills: proficient in test planning and execution and using test methodologies to identify software defects, applying software quality assurance (SQA) practices and principles.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills with ability to develop logical, documented recommendations and work with appropriate areas on resolution of issues.
Detail oriented with an aptitude for facilitating the removal of defects with software development teams.
