The Quality Assurance Engineer executes testing procedures to ensure that software meets established quality standards. He/She develops and writes testing scripts and plans to ensure that the software functions as expected. The Quality Assurance Engineer prepares data sets to test logic, error handling and system workflows. He/She isolates, reproduces, and tracks defects, verifies fixes, and documents testing according to required procedures. The Quality Assurance Engineer is familiar with software development cycle and quality assurance methodologies.
Job Responsibilities
Test planning and design:
- Creating test cases and strategies based on requirements and specifications, including functional, regression, performance, and usability testing
Test execution:
- Performing manual or automated tests to identify bugs and defects in the software
Defect logging and tracking:
- Documenting identified issues in a bug tracking system, providing detailed descriptions and steps to reproduce the problem
Test reporting:
- Communicating test results to development teams, highlighting critical issues and providing insights into software quality
Collaboration with development teams:
- Working closely with developers to understand requirements, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring timely bug fixes
Quality assurance standards:
- Maintaining and enforcing quality standards and best practices throughout the development process
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Communications or related field preferred
- 2 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance is required
- Must have the ability to identify potential issues and understand complex systems
- Must be able to meticulously review software functionality to catch even minor errors
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of defects and propose solutions
- Must have knowledge of testing methodologies including various testing techniques like automation, black-box, white-box, regression, performance, and usability testing
- Must have software development lifecycle (SDLC) understanding
- Must have basic programming skills including the ability to write automated test scripts
- Must be able to effectively communicate test results and issues to developers and stakeholders
- Must have strong Project Management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines; must be proactive with a high level of organization
- Must be able to leverage effective communication to convey information clearly and engagingly to the target audience
Compensation: Salary Performance-Based Bonus, Comprehensive Benefits Package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
