About the Job
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Safety or Food Science related course of study or equivalent experience
- Three years of experience in a Manufacturing environment or equivalent experience
- Two years of leadership experience or equivalent experience
- HACCP Basic Training
- Ability to obtain SQF Certified Practitioner within the first year
- Ability to obtain GDA approved Preventive Controls Qualified Individual status within the first year
- Knowledge or Federal and State Regulatory requirements specific to food safety and related areas (GDA Food Code, State Food Codes, Weights and Measures, Code of Federal Regulations) and the principles behind these requirements affecting retail, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution
- Knowledge of a retail supermarket, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution processes and programs impacting food safety
- Knowledge of the interactions between Federal (GDA, CDC) and state agencies
- Knowledge of food manufacturing practices
- Knowledge of food microbiology and chemistry
- Knowledge of traceability in foods
- Critical thinking skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative
- Ability to demonstrate vision
- Leadership and managerial skills
- Ability to remain calm during crisis situations
- Ability to multi-task and handle more than one priority at a time
- Communication skills in both written and verbal format
- Knowledge of basic microbiology
- Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays and travel by air
- Willingness to work a variable schedule including nights, holidays and weekends to meet the needs of our support customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Microbiology, Food Safety or Food Science related course of study or equivalent experience
- Three years of Publix Manufacturing management experience
- SQF Certified Practitioner
- Certified Professional Food Manager
- Advanced HACCP Training
- SQF Certified Consultant
