WHO WE ARE HIRING: Quality Assurance Analysts
HHS Technology Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Analysts to work on the Electronic Licensing System (ELS) project in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Information Technology Services (MNIT) partnering with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
The QA Analysts will provide support to the DNR ELS lead quality assurance/business analyst throughout the implementation of a new State solution. The QAA will engage in testing and create any related QA artifacts for ELS. These requirements and artifacts will be used throughout the implementation of the ELS project. This will be done in conjunction with State or contract Business and Quality Assurance Analysts and Project Managers. These QAAs will work directly with both DNR and MNIT DNR staff to perform quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
At a high level, the QAAs will work as part of a team to test vendor developed software products for the DNR's ELS. This is a multi-year project with multiple releases.
The delivery of the work will follow the DNR standards, processes, and procedures. Actively participate in the Agile events implemented by the development team (MNIT, DNR, Vendor) and collaborate with team members. The work is expected to be done remotely. If the resource(s) are local, there will be opportunities to join the team onsite.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in formal review of business/functional requirements and application design
• Prepare a Test Plan
• Determine the types of testing that will be executed
• Design and document test cases and scripts (manual and/or automated)
• Identify and communicate test requirements
• Establish testing entrance and exit criteria
• Identify and prepare test data
• Execute manual and/or automated test scripts for complex projects.
• Analyze, report, help troubleshoot and resolve test failures
• Report overall test status and results
• Report and log defects found as a result of the test execution
• Perform other testing tasks as may be required by the project
• Provide knowledge transfer
Tasks and Deliverables:
- Review functional requirements
- Create technical design documents
- Transform software designs and specifications into secure, high functioning code in Java and document solutions
- Integrate individual software solutions to applicable systems
- Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
- Perform upgrades to make software and systems more secure and efficient
- Communicate and incorporate business owner's visions, business plans, and key objectives
- Provide updates as required for MNIT, MNsure and DHS leadership
- Provide development and related operations, maintenance, and production support
- Foster a culture that supports and drives staff engagement and collaboration in support of State objectives
- Establish, manage, and leverage business and technology relationships both internal and external
- Provide knowledge transfer
Minimum Requirements:
- Five (5) years' of Quality Assurance work creating and executing manual test cases/test scripts from scratch.
- Experience with Software development lifecycle methodologies including agile and the Scrum framework as a team member.
- Experience writing and executing both positive (happy path) and negative (e.g. boundary, input validation, exception (error validation) test cases.
- Experience in collaborative teamwork, establishing/maintaining working relationships with business customers and technology staff, while concurrently providing technical leadership in planning, designing, executing tests, mentoring, and developing procedures for product quality on complex projects utilizing industry-standard software development methodologies.
- Experience in multiple programming languages, software development technologies, and diverse database platforms, with hands-on experience in working with web-based forms, web-based content, interactive solutions, and conducting testing on web-based applications, web services, and database systems.
- Experience on large, complex implementations with 3rd party vendors.
- Experience in utilizing DevOps tools such as Jira for streamlined software development, continuous integration, and deployment processes.
- Experience with security, accessibility, performance, and stress testing.
- Ability to communicate clearly, present complex information to users in a comprehensive style, translate technical, and system information for non-technical stakeholders.
- SQL experience
