About the Job
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Mental Health Specialist (QMHS) plays a crucial role in facilitating the treatment plan process for clients referred for services. This position focuses on providing essential Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), Community Psychiatric Services and Treatment (CPST), and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) initially to support positive treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Receive assignments of individuals needing mental health services, monitor client behavior in relation to treatment goals, and address client needs effectively.
Respond appropriately to mental health emergencies, adhering to crisis intervention protocols.
Provide behavioral, case management, and skill-building interventions as outlined in clients' individual service plans, ensuring compliance with the scope of the position.
Maintain accurate documentation of all client interactions, consultations, and treatment plan updates. Take proactive measures in response to changes in client status.
Adhere to federal, state, and agency Fraud, Waste, and Abuse policies and procedures.
Attend monthly team meetings, trainings, and All Staff Meetings as required.
Participate in coaching sessions with the Clinical Director to enhance professional development.
Submit timely documentation including assisting therapists with necessary information for authorizations, processing reauthorizations, and responding to administrative requests promptly.
Familiarize oneself with client medical records to ensure effective service delivery, including assessments, treatment recommendations, and referrals to social service agencies when necessary.
Provide recommendations and court testimony regarding clients' behavioral and mental health status as needed.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, their families, service providers, colleagues, and the community.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in mental health or social services (Preferred).
Valid Driver's License required.
Successful completion of New Hire Orientation.
Clearance of background checks including BCI, FBI, OIG, National Sex Offender Registry, and Mental Health Abuse Registry.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of case management principles and community health resources.
Ability to use computer software for documentation and communication effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with clients and colleagues.
Proficiency in responding to mental health emergencies and following ethical and legal guidelines.
