Job Description Summary:
Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Quality Control matters and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems to support the manufacturing of wholesome and quality food. Quality Control Supervisor supports the Quality Assurance Manager.
Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Quality Control matters and maintaining Food Safety and Quality Assurance Management Systems to support the manufacturing of wholesome and quality food. Quality Control Supervisor supports the Quality Assurance Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfills and oversees tasks related to food safety, food quality, and regulatory compliance
- Assists in 3rd party audits and annual SQF audit
- Assists in implementing corrective actions and preventive measures related to food safety and food quality non-conformities
- Assists in implementing and safeguarding USDA, QC, SQF, and Food Safety-related Policies and Procedures
- Completes or oversees completion of daily, weekly, or monthly monitoring forms
- Maintains HACCP Food Safety System
- Assists in annual HACCP reassessments and plan verification
- Responsible for overseeing SSOPs and GMP
- Responsible for overseeing cleaning and housekeeping activities
- Verifies monthly sanitation schedule
- Responsible for investigating food safety and quality-related incidents discovered through customer complaints and reported by production or QC staff
- Verifies Pest Control Program is followed
- Assists in Microbiological Testing requirements
- Oversees and manages Foreign Material Control Program
- Conducts facility audits and inspections
- Responsible for verification and validation activities as outlined in SQF code
- Assures Specification Program is followed
- Assists in company’s Food Safety and Quality training
- Assists in investigating product complaints, documents, recommends corrective action, and responds to the inquiries
- Ability to assist in training of QC employees
- Knowledge of CCP’s in a processing environment
- Serves as plant liaison to USDA personnel
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills / Requirements:
- Relevant work experience in the meat industry is required
- HACCP certification is preferred but not required
- Knowledgeable of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, SQF, GMP, SSOP, Quality Assurance, and Food Microbiology requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, Biology, or a related field is a plus but not required
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or company’s stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to carry out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws
