Job Description
The primary function of the Quality Control Lab technician is to perform analytical testing on polyolefin catalyst and polymer. The technician will work on a 12-hour rotation shift (Dupont Schedule), must be willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, and perform the following activities:
Responsibilities
- Holds safety as a top priority and engages in the company’s safety program.
- Performs testing on catalyst using various analytical instruments such as ICP, Karl Fisher, GC, UV-Vis, and Mastersizer.
- Performs laboratory experiments, including polymerization testing using bench scale autoclave reactors and resin analysis, recording data and observations.
- Responsible for all laboratory activities – manages daily operations of the laboratory, including, processing sample requests, and regular laboratory maintenance and clean-up.
- Participates in Six Sigma quality activities and programs for the site.
- Monitors SQC charts using Minitab software and immediately corrects rule violations.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Meet physical requirements as defined for position such as bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, or dragging objects at least 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to wear a respirator as required.
- Willingness to work overtime, both scheduled and unscheduled.
- Handles special projects and other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry or related technical field preferred, or High School Diploma plus 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of chemistry and demonstration of mechanical abilities with lab equipment and instrumentation
- Experience with laboratory safety practice
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. Degreen in Chemistry or related technical field.
