About the Job
The QC Inspector will have primary responsibility for the Quality Control activities for the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with the monitoring of compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Perform inspections of vendor and in-house manufactured components and finished goods.
- Analyzing customer and regulatory requirements to assess their effect on the internal Quality System
- Supporting customer, vendor, and agency audits.
- Ensuring Quality Assurance record retention
- Document all customer and government furnished components and materials.
- Program the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) machine as needed for incoming inspection of components.
- Perform mechanical and visual inspections of components.
- Document, tag and segregate products in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct in-process inspections and final signoffs on all assemblies manufactured in accordance with current policies and procedures.
- Monitor scheduled work and sales orders to make sure they are compliant with customer requirements and specifications.
- Attend daily morning staff meetings with the team to provide updates
- Facilitate testing of finished goods for customer compliance and new product testing
- Communicate with domestic and international QC personnel to ensure components and manufacturing processes meet domestic and international standards
- Assists in defining and utilizing metrics for the Quality Management System
- Document any non-conforming parts, materials or assemblies and tracking corrective actions internally and externally
- Work with Purchasing to coordinate return material authorizations (RMA) to vendors for materials from documented vendor corrective action requests
- Manage the calibration of all test equipment and quality control tools.
- Responsible for performing first article inspections and component final approvals
- Responsible for communicating with vendors to investigate and issue corrective action on any non-conforming component issues
- Will help to continuously improve upon processes to make things more efficient in the office as well as manufacturing/warehousing.
- This is a small company so will contribute in other areas as needed.
Experience required:
- College degree a plus, not required
- 2 + years of Quality/Inspection related experience
- Experience in a machining environment or performing quality inspections on machined parts a plus
- Need to communicate effectively, make presentations and write concise reports.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions and bills of materials
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus
- Experience working with basic QC / metrology tools such as gauges, calipers, micrometers etc.
- Prior CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) experience a plus
- Ability to audit office processes as well as manufacturing/warehousing.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 or similar Quality Management System
- Ability to integrate with engineering and manufacturing divisions for developing or improving testing methods and protocols
- Basic computer software skills (i.e. MS-Office and/or ERP/MRP Systems)
- You'll have to be able to lift and/or move products that could be up to 50 - 75 pounds
