About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join our manufacturing team in Sparta. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using a variety of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), visual optical comparators, and other quality inspection equipment. The QA Tech will be responsible for ensuring that products meet precise specifications, conducting inspections, and troubleshooting any quality issues during the production process.
Wage: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: 6a.m. to 2p.m. Monday through Friday
Qualifications:
- Inspection & Measurement: Use precision inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs, visual optical comparators) to inspect and measure parts and assemblies against engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Quality Control: Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials and finished products to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards.
- Documentation: Accurately document inspection results, including any deviations from the standards, and ensure that records are kept up to date and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Identify quality issues, work with production teams to root-cause problems, and recommend corrective actions to resolve issues.
- Process Monitoring: Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure that they adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Ensure inspection tools and equipment are regularly calibrated, maintained, and in good working condition to ensure accurate measurement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to review specifications, resolve issues, and improve manufacturing processes.
- Product Testing: Conduct product testing for durability, performance, and compliance with safety standards, using both manual and automated tools when appropriate.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with ISO, ANSI, and other industry-specific quality standards. Follow all safety and quality regulations at all times.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality assurance or quality control role.
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and optical comparators.
- Hands-on experience working in a quality department with a focus on product inspections and measurements.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and reading complex engineering drawings.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and inspections.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while following established procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot quality issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to accurately document inspection findings and communicate with team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production deadlines.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts if necessary.
