The Position:
The QA Supervisor is a key member of the quality team and is accountable for the company's overall food safety and quality program, ensuring production of safe and high-quality bakery products for our customers. This individual will be a team player with a hands-on mentality who will be responsible for ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are in full compliance with all regulatory bodies, food certification requirements and company standards. This individual will be the champion of establishing company-wide food safety and quality culture, proactively eliminating barriers to this end, and reinforcing positive behaviors. Participates in projects with corporate cross-functional teams.
**The regular working hours for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm. This person will also need to have the flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Site SQF Practitioner, lead the facility in all SQF, Food Safety, Packaging Quality, Product Quality, Sanitation, and related activities.
- Manage site food safety documents, conduct risk assessments, and root cause analysis.
- Responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards and good relations are maintained with customers, regulatory agencies, and certifying bodies.
- Source and conduct pre-screening of potential ingredient and packaging suppliers.
- Manage environmental program, sanitation, and sanitation verification/validation activities.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of site SOP's and SSOP's.
- Lead in resolving non-conformance issues/quality problems at plant.
- Works with plant management team to develop corrective action plans and communicates plans to corporate QA.
- Conducts assessment and capability studies, product startups/commercialization and provides on-site support to Plant Operations for new products, productivity, and quality programs at the direction of corporate QA/R&D.
- Organize and facilitate sensory evaluations through in-house taste panels at the direction of corporate QA/R&D.
- Serves as a key technical resource in the plant and as a liaison between corporate QA, R&D, and Operations.
- Manage all third-party food safety audits for the location.
- Independently performs data management, analysis, and reporting.
- Prepare regular reports and establish daily accomplishments and efforts toward meeting objectives.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Food Science or Technology, Bakery Science, Cereal Science, Biological Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of QA/QC management bakery manufacturing experience in a GFSI FDA and/or USDA regulated facility.
- SQF Practitioner, HACCP, and PCQI certification is required.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects/tasks at any given time.
- Must demonstrate independent and critical thinking ability, hands-on mentality/ qualities.
- Must be comfortable working with computers and have knowledge of MS office.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
