The Consumer Loan Quality Assurance Specialist actively conducts QA audits and reports for all the credit unions' consumer loans. This position systematically reviews approved, denied, and closed loans accounts for accuracy and conformity with policies and procedures and reports on findings, and issues written reports of results directly to the Consumer Loan HUB Manager, Market Executives, and affected Financial Center Managers. Prepares an Executive Summary Report with audit findings for Senior Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs consumer loan audits to ensure adherence to established regulations, policies, and procedures, on all the credit unions loans including consumer direct loans, indirect and commerce connect loans.
- Supports Retail Operations and Consumer Loan HUB to ensure accurate execution of credit policies and ensure compliance in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other federal and state regulations, across multiple product lines and programs.
- Prepare written reports to address errors with the appropriate parties and follows through to resolution. Reports on Results to ensure consistency in processes throughout financial centers, the Consumer Loan HUB and support departments. Does not typically correct or change any document or entry.
- Depending on volume, reviews all or a logical selection of approved, opened, denied, and closed loans.
- Audits documents for completeness.
- Reviews loan reports, checking for appropriateness of rates, terms, pledges, and payments as well as posting-accuracy.
- Interacts with lenders as necessary to research discrepancies and effect corrections.
- Spot checks and re-verifies employment, income, down payments, member eligibility and vehicle values.
- Ensures that charges for life, disability, GAP, and warranties have been appropriately coded on the loan record or added to the loan balance.
- Verifies that vehicles are covered by insurance.
- Produces meaningful reports of results for appropriate FCCU stakeholders.
- Reviews Operation and Loan sections in SharePoint and reports any discrepancies to FCCU Officials.
- Periodically review and verify Consumer Loan HUB operational audits conducted by outside auditors to ensure proper completion and follow-through.
- Immediately escalates any evidence of fraud and/or misrepresentation to FCCU Officials.
- Maintains strict standards of confidentiality and performing duties in a manner that supports the credit unions core values
- Completes Management Reports as assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida, and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
- Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC, and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.
- Fully supports in actions and words First Commerce's Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Service Standards
- Performs other duties as assigned (not to include loan processing).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with consumer lending and knowledge of loan and deposit policies and procedures required.
- Experience in auditing/reviewing the work of others against standards and issuing written reports of findings, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent. Two-year (AA) or four-year (BA, BS) degree from an accredited university in a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5+ years of consumer lending or loan transaction experience.
- A minimum of 1+ years prior supervisory experience.
