Job Details
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and ensure project/product quality meets all relevant codes, standards, regulations, equipment specifications, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Drive quality excellence and performance improvement across the organization.
Lead the development and implementation of the QMS, covering planning, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operations.
Coordinate QA/QC staff duties and work schedules.
Identify and support the development of QA/QC personnel, including FRP laminators, secondary bonders, and thermoplastic welders. Manage certification requirements and continuing education/training needs.
Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to all QA/QC personnel and technicians.
Participate in project meetings and product discussions.
Maintain and manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) log.
Review fabrication drawings and work orders as necessary.
Oversee raw material traceability processes.
Maintain the calibration log and related records.
Develop and update work instructions and quality procedures as needed.
Schedule and coordinate third-party inspections.
Manage and maintain shop certifications.
Take full responsibility for releasing hold-points once all QMS procedures are completed and the equipment is ready for the next work stage.
Implement risk-based inspections by identifying process risks and establishing internal quality hold points.
Manage plant integrity through failure analysis reports and follow-up on recommendations.
Oversee inspection and testing plans for new construction, repair work, and alterations.
Identify and implement solutions to resolve deficiencies in inspection functions.
Manage fabrication processes, plant equipment, and conduct internal audits of the QMS.
Lead process improvements and standardize work across operational activities.
Apply lean tools and lead Kaizen events in critical work and product areas.
Train and mentor others in the use of Six Sigma, Lean, and Continuous Improvement (CI) tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Operations, 6S, Error Proofing, Kaizen Events, Material Flow, and Statistical Controls.
Implement continuous improvement programs focused on labor efficiency, cost reduction, inventory planning, quality enhancement, and shipping optimization.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that changes are successfully implemented and sustained.
Design tools and processes that enhance efficiency, productivity, and reduce waste and costs. Identify process or product improvement opportunities, including new technological trends that could affect business models.
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, or a related field, or five-plus years of QA/QC experience in non-metallic industries.
ISO Internal Auditor certification with strong knowledge of ISO systems and their implementation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines while maintaining professionalism.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
