- Hours for role 10am 6pm M-F
- This role is short term for the month of December for vacation coverage.
- Is there possibility this assignment will be extended? No
- Is there a possibility this role will convert to full time? No
- Candidate will interview onsite with hiring manager.
The Supply Operations Los Angeles Milk/Culture Plant, located in Commerce, CA has a Plant Quality Control Technician position available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for sampling, testing, plating, reading, and recording product test results
- Ensure that daily records are kept and maintained
- Data Entry and tracking
- Following QC Hold Procedures for out of specification products
- Must possess the ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP's)
- Will assist in the discipline to maintain a 5-S rating of an ""A""
- Be flexible in working hours
- Equipment calibration and troubleshooting
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Participate in driving continuous improvement
- Must meet with supervisor on a daily basis covering on any issues associated with production
- Possess the knowledge and understanding of Industry best practice maintenance on equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related science) or equivalent experience (Minimum 2 years in similar role)
- Knowledge of Microbiological, Chemical and Physical, Organoleptic Testing
- Ensure Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety is adhered to
- Evaluate trends from test results and develop plans to correct deficiencies and communicate these plans to employees, and management
- Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Utilize laboratory supplies/items relating to plant sanitation/safety
- Good oral/written communication skills
- Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision
- Proficient in window-based PC programs
- Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Time Management
- Quick to learn new techniques
- Ability to work in cold and loud environments
- Flexible with schedule and ability to work overtime as needed
