About the Job
The Resident QA Inspector serves as an integrated member of our TF/OH bundle manufacturing team. Core duties include:
- Become familiar with the governing documents (Statement(s) of Work (SOW), Technical Specifications, Drawings, etc.).
- Work closely with the technical, QA, and project management team, keeping them informed of surveillance plans and resultant observations.
- Review manufacturing procedures, training & qualification (T&Q) records, inspection reports, and other submittals for compliance with our requirements.
- Directly observe work in progress for both conformances to documented requirements and identification of situations that may lead to compromise in product quality.
- Provide daily reports of observed activities, including a summary of key progress, issues, and challenges. Reports shall include photos & video media as applicable to convey the day’s activities.
- Participate in project meetings.
- Document and report all concerns promptly to the technical, QA, and Project Management team.
- On an as-requested/as-needed basis, visit sub-tier subcontractor/sub-supplier facilities to perform similar oversight duties.
MINIMUM Background, preferred but not required:
Education and Experience
- Experience applying quality requirements under an approved QA Program that is compliant with ISO9001, AS9100, DOE O414.1D, or similar national or international regulations or standards.
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in industry, five (5) of which must be serving in a QA/QC manufacturing oversight capacity (preferred).
- Experience related to CNC machining of large-scale components, including post process visual inspections, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Copper machining experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Familiarity with the use and calibration of M&TE.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (including unique software/hardware requirements)
- Demonstrated capabilities in quality assurance functions, including surveillance and inspections. Experience with machining and visual inspections is preferred.
- Writing Quality reports and findings and following up on corrective actions and NCRs.
- Candor and courtesy to raise difficult issues with difficult audiences and get their buy-in.
- Clear communication, written and spoken, in English.

- Standard office work and manufacturing facility environment work, with potential need for prolonged standing/walking during direct oversight activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Shift work, onsite or remote work, hours and other unique job conditions)
- The work is in Auburn Hills, MI. The work will be a combination of oversight at a manufacturing facility (primary), and office work to review documentation and prepare reports (secondary). The inspector is to be on-site at the subcontractor full-time during manufacturing. This may include late shift or weekend work depending on the manufacturing activities.
