Roadster Shop is seeking a purchasing assistant to join our procurement team.
The purchasing and receiving assistant support the purchasing and receiving teams by developing and managing relationships with key suppliers and supporting incoming receiving procedures and data entry.

Title: Purchasing and Receiving Assistant
Department: Admin
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Compensation: $23 - $27 per hour
Location: Island Lakes, Illinois
Job type: Fulltime/ non-exempt
Key functions and Responsibilities
- Complete general purchasing support tasks including expediting (phone calls, email) shipments and communicating with suppliers.
- Responsible for managing procurement and supply tasks in support of departmental activities.
- Communicate with vendors as well as handling internal/external service relationships.
- Assist Accounts Payable in resolution of invoice variances.
- Responsible for tracking internal and external material and service suppliers, along with monitoring service purchases.
- Send purchase orders to suppliers and confirm expected ship dates.
- Ability to interact with various departments to ensure the timely manufacturing of parts, and processing of customers' requirements.
- Manage apparel stock level re-order points and identify purchasing needs.
- Ensure timely receiving of parts and shop supplies and work with shop floor to ensure proper placement of items in correct locations.
- Identify and support unacceptable materials or services with suppliers.
- Assist with material handling i.e. lifting and carrying boxes up to 50lbs.
In this role, you'll be responsible for coordinating, tracking and receiving orders for parts, services of parts. Resolve receiving issues, ensure smooth procurement processes utilize ERP system as well as manual and internal processes, to maintain transactions efficiently.
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to set and meet internal deadlines, work independently, use judgment and make decisions.
- Mathematical skills to perform unit of measure transaction conversions.
- Ability to reconcile invoice discrepancies, recognize errors and make timely adjustments using corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Ability to balance changes in workload and pressures of deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills using MS Office and ERP Systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- High School diploma
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to perform in fast-paced environments
- Previous experience in supply chain recommended
- Physical ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Global Shop Solutions or other ERP system a plus.
