Responsibilities:POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Manager provides leadership and management for procurement of materials and subcontractors. The position will interface with Accounting, Engineering, Estimating, Design Build and Field Personnel. The Purchasing Manager has a strong focus on coordination with estimating and subcontractor solicitation. Duties also include but are not limited to negotiating with vendors, subcontractors and service providers while consulting with Director of Purchasing, VP of Purchasing, General Counsel, Risk and Senior Management when appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and plan all aspects of purchasing from pre-bid to closeout.
• Obtain Subcontractor and supplier/vendor quotes for bidding.
• Enter subcontractor and material quotes for bids in HCSS - Heavy Bid Estimating Program
• Negotiate and execute all major subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with vendors, subcontractors and service providers.
• Monitor and oversee execution of the purchasing buy-out.
• Locate and assist in the evaluation and qualification of vendor materials, equipment, and professional service providers.
• Provide feedback to assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
• Oversee administration of online purchasing systems.
• Communicate and enforce purchasing policies & procedures to project team.
• Responsible for projections, financial planning, expediting, delivery schedules and purchasing reporting.
• Maintain and update database of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and submit pre-award DBE/MBE/WBE subcontractor information on municipal bids.
• Assist project management team with mobilization of new projects and close-out of completed projects from pre-construction meetings to final acceptance of contract by owner.
• Consult with General Counsel and Senior Management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent degree ideal.
• Minimum 4 to 5 years’ heavy construction industry experience required.
• Construction estimating experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel with general knowledge of database utilization.
• Proficient in HCSS Software including Heavy Bid and Heavy job is a plus.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals, and objectives.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
Reports to: Director of Purchasing
Location: Farmingdale, NY
Compensation: $95,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience
