The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all purchasing activities and establishing strategic purchasing processes and procedures, maintaining relationships with suppliers, and negotiating contracts. This role requires a strong understanding of the purchasing environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Develop and implement strategies to find cost-effective deals and suppliers.
- Discover and partner with trustworthy vendors and suppliers.
- Determine the quantity and timing of deliveries.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing role.
- Proven experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market.
- Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating, and liaising with vendors).
- Understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgement.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
- Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Solid judgement with the ability to make good decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Able to thrive in high-pressure situations.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Knowledge of key processes in procurement and the ability to manage supply/production planning activities.
- A degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration is preferred.
