CULTA is searching or a dynamic Purchasing Generalist who will play a crucial role in the procurement and supply chain management of raw materials, equipment, and packaging supplies for the cannabis production process. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The Purchasing Generalist will ensure that all necessary products and materials are acquired at the best possible prices, delivered on time, and compliant with cannabis industry regulations.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source and negotiate with suppliers for raw materials, cultivation equipment, packaging, and other necessary products.
- Reviews and processes purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers.
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors.
- Evaluates vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
- Schedules deliveries and ensures timely fulfillment of orders.
- Researches and evaluates vendors to compare pricing and services.
- Work with Inventory Generalist to monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to ensure adequate stock and timely procurement.
- Ensures quality of procured items and addresses problems when they arise.
- Keeps up with trends in procurement.
- Stays current with purchasing technology and overseas system implementation as necessary.
- Work with the marketing team to secure samples of packaging when implementing packaging changes.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal cannabis regulations during the purchasing process.
- Purchasing Specialist will be cross-trained to support not only the purchasing functions but also assist with inventory management and receiving tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Two years of purchasing experience preferred.
- Prior experience with Acumatica or similar ERP preferred
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management, vendors and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to effectively manage workload independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting systems and Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
