Purchasing Coordinator

Job Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for purchasing and maintaining distributed goods for our RAM manufactured products, and will have a direct focus on lean purchasing principles, cost reduction, inventory management, vendor relations and consistent quality. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
General Duties
- Buyer for purchased window and door distributed goods(windows, doors, screens, spare parts, etc.), ensuring requirements are met in regards to price, quality and delivery
- Prepare purchase orders, back-charge requests, and provide daily updates to operations regarding vendor delays, defects, etc. that would impact production
- Reconcile receiving information against shipment acknowledgements and communicate with vendors when differences exist
- Manage inventory levels, including min/max quantities, cycle counts, and OTD
- Further company’s efforts to implement lean culture and JIT purchasing programs
- Track vendor performance, including on-time delivery and quality issues
- Perform root cause analysis when issues arise and implement action plan to prevent further occurrences
- Collaborate with manufacturing on opportunities for quality improvements with respect to purchased items*this list is not inclusive of all assigned tasks/duties; other job-related duties/tasks may be assigned
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field (preferred)
- Experience: 2-3 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience
Skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- ERP Experience preferred
- Organized and self-disciplined
- Professional demeanor in developing relationships with vendors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret and understand architectural drawings a plus
- Thrives in a fast moving, dynamic and growing environment
- Competency and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
Physical & Other Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, up to 75% of the time
- While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to walk
- Judgment, decision-making, follow-up, social awareness, reading/writing, organizational, timeliness, stress tolerance, communication (oral and written)
