Wieland is hiring a Purchasing Agent. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the Purchasing Team in the timely procurement of quality materials required for business operations. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, analyzing inventory levels, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ensuring a smooth supply chain.

- Lead the Purchasing Team, coordinating tasks and time off to ensure full team coverage and smooth operations.
- Oversee vendor and sales relationships within the team, ensuring effective communication and alignment with business needs.
- Manage stock material purchases and ensure the team adheres to inventory requirements.
- Work with the team to meet all deadlines, driving accountability and performance.
- Inquire, select, and purchase materials required for business operations.
- Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Oversee vendor and supplier selection based on price, quality, reliability, support, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Utilize material requirement reports, statistical analysis, and forecasting to determine necessary products.
- Support Purchasing Agents in inventory analysis and purchasing decisions.
- Source non-stock materials for customer quotes and ensure timely deliveries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices and delivery terms.
- Update systems with current product details and due dates.
- Collaborate with domestic, foreign, and custom suppliers on incoming materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers and carriers to improve delivery processes.
- Track purchase orders and ensure on-time delivery compliance.
- Resolve inventory concerns and reconcile supplier issues.
- Investigate and address invoicing discrepancies.
- Oversee purchasing projects and tasks assigned by management.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage updates to internal price sheets for stock items.
- Implement purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Assist in quality supplier audits and manage relationships with World Class suppliers.
- Identify and source new suppliers, issuing RFQs for new products.
- Authorize payment for purchase orders and schedule orders for outside processing.
- Continuously improve purchasing processes in line with market conditions and organizational needs.
- Manage transportation and billing functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations, or supply chain.
- 5 years of work experience in materials purchasing or related field.
- Proven negotiating skills and ability to manage supplier contracts.
- Knowledge of metals and manufacturing industries preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO/AS standards and requirements (a plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Proficiency with computers and data entry.
- Ability to perform conversions and calculations.
- Fluent English language skills, both speaking and writing.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Strong attention to detail (critical skill).
- Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, coworkers, and management.
- Ability to work as part of a team and offer assistance to teammates when necessary.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by the position.
