This purchasing position requires a lot of data entry and working as a support person to Project Managers.
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for coordinating all activities associated with procurement of materials and supplies for the company. The Purchasing Agent obtains requirements by verifying, preparing and forwarding purchase orders; verifies receipt of items when necessary. The purchasing Agent works with the appropriate individuals to ensure proper storage and transport of procured material and supplies. The Purchasing Agent must establish and maintain positive business relationships with suppliers; have good interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external customers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enter Purchasing information into accounting system; ensure accurate GL codes and project numbers assigned.
- Responsible for ordering and accounting for material used on the job sites.
- Research and resolve Invoice/PO discrepancies/coordinate returns/credit memos and assist with processing vendor returns by adjusting PO as required.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from appropriate manger as needed.
- Entering Inventory, material and labor transfers into accounting system.
- Self-manage assigned workload distribution.
- Create, develop, implement and revise project process improvement(s).
- Back-up for front desk.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Min:USD $24.00/Hr.Max:USD $28.00/Hr.Qualifications:
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help to create, develop and implement process improvement(s).
- Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
- Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral direction(s) to vendors/co-workers/managers.
- Must have proven mid skill level to interpret project documents, including but not limited to, spreadsheets and billing documents.
- Regular and reliable job attendance required
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must have some experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.
- Technical and organizational skills are required; purchasing agents need to understand technical production information and manage several purchasing documents
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a purchasing department preferable with construction company and/or related field.
- Understand and have (2) years working experience with multi-state tax requirements on material purchases.
- Low voltage electrical/integration procurement preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
- Must be able to effectively operate office equipment and computing devices commonly used in the industry.
- Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
