Responsibilities:
As a Purchasing Agent, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing relationships with vendors and negotiating contracts to secure the most advantageous terms and lowest costs for the company.
2. Conducting cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
3. Managing and overseeing various projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
4. Processing change orders and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations.
5. Utilizing your knowledge of residential construction to make informed purchasing decisions.
6. Demonstrating strong management and organizational skills to effectively oversee the purchasing department.
7. Collaborating with builders to understand their material needs and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
8. Reviewing and processing submittals, ensuring all materials meet the necessary specifications and standards.
9. Overseeing the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors, ensuring all purchases are in line with company policies and budget.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Purchasing Agent position should have the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing role within the construction industry.
2. Proven experience in vendor management and supplier negotiations.
3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct cost analysis.
4. Proven project management skills with the ability to manage various projects simultaneously.
5. Experience with change orders and a strong understanding of residential construction.
6. Excellent management and organizational skills.
7. Experience working with builders and understanding their material needs.
8. Experience reviewing and processing submittals.
9. Proven ability to oversee the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
10. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
11. Strong decision-making abilities and a keen eye for detail.
12. A degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
