PUBLIC TAX ACCOUNTANT DIRECT HIRE - Spherion

The experienced Accountant in the Albert Lea office will heavily focus on Tax Preparing with skills and abilities to meet with individual and business clients, and also assist in preparation of financial statements and variety of other services. This requires experience in Accounting, proven Tax Preparation, Financial Statement, and Advanced Accounting knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Handles routine client questions and works with clients to collect necessary information for tax return completion.
• Regularly collaborates with partners to provide outstanding client service.
• Supports multiple client engagements on time, identifying issues and communicating progress.
• Prepares individual, corporate, partnership, and other types of tax returns. Including client interviews.
• Assists with the detail work of reviews, compilations, and other assurance services for clients.
• Prepares financial statements, related disclosures, and other required reports.
• Formulate and deliver innovative tax planning strategies.
• Maintain active communications with clients to develop longstanding business relationships, manage expectations and ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist with other projects as needed.

Skills:

• Tax accounting: 5 years (Preferred)
• Accounting degree is preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable but not required, but should be committed to obtaining.
• Experience with Thompson Reuters Ultra Tax CS a plus but not required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related degree with an Accounting minor required.
• Five years of experience in public accounting.
• Effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound analytical, technical, and tax accounting skills.
• Solid understanding of Internal Revenue Service regulations
• Computer skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products.
• High level of organization and focus with exceptional attention to detail, and good follow-up skills.
• Extraordinary interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Willingness to take supervision and guidance.
• Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional delivery of quality client service.
• Requires a professional commitment to continuous learning and development.
