Job Description
This position has dual functions (Dispatcher and back up support for the office administrative assistant). One duty of the position is to provide college wide communications support by fielding incoming telephone calls from the public, parents, external agencies etc. The dispatcher will provide appropriate and accurate information, and/or connect callers with the appropriate offices. The second major purpose is to provide communications and office support to the Department Public Safety. The dispatcher will assist with maintaining a safe campus by monitoring security systems, assessing calls for service, and deploying officers. Under limited supervision, simultaneously operate a multi-channel radio system and a multi-line telephone, while maintaining computer-aided dispatch systems and other computer systems. The dispatcher is responsible for receiving, coordinating and disseminating critical information from various sources and maintaining radio contact with mobile/field units. The dispatcher will monitor officer response to calls and provide any needed support. The dispatcher must be organized and maintain a high level of proficiency with respect to evolving technology and office management practices. The dispatcher may be tasked with providing training to new Public Safety Officers and will perform any additional duties assigned by Public Safety Administrative Staff.

Salary: $16.97/hour
The hiring salary above represent the College’s good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
Job Requirements
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. A background screening will be required. Must Have or be able to obtain a NYS Security Guard License.
