Overview
HTA Consulting, a public service consulting firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a contracted, part-time Coordinator (approximately 20-25 hours per week) to support a California County Department of Public Health. This is a 1099 independent contractor role for a 12-month project, with the potential for contract extension at the employer’s discretion.
The Coordinator will develop and manage projects to enhance the County’s behavioral healthcare workforce capacity to ensure clients and community members are served through culturally responsive, equity-centered, and trauma-informed approaches.
The Coordinator will work with the Department's Behavioral Health Transitional Age Youth (TAY; youth ages 16-19) System of Care (SOC) to oversee all coordination and project management aspects of hosting trainings and plan other capacity building strategies for TAY SOC network providers. Network providers include those who work across local TAY-serving systems, including behavioral healthcare providers, housing providers, city and county staff, outreach workers, case managers, and other individuals who work with TAY.
Trainings will cover foundational topics (e.g., TAY neurological development, trauma-informed systems, harm reduction, TAY and their identified families) as well as specialized content on developing clinical skills, evidence-based practices, and resource connections (e.g., DBT, intensive treatment modalities, substance use interventions, culturally affirming and alternative healing modalities).
Role and Responsibilties:
Under the day-to-day supervision of the TAY SOC Director, the Capacity Building Coordinator will plan, coordinate logistics, host, facilitate, and evaluate trainings for the TAY SOC network. Trainings will be both held in-person and virtually.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with TAY SOC Director to develop a capacity building and operational plan for the training series, in alignment with the SOC vision, values and strategies.
- Collaborate with the TAY SOC to assess training needs of County staff and health and social services providers. Identify training gaps, assets, goals, and outcome metrics across the SOC to determine and plan for appropriate training content.
- Screen and vet TAY trainers, content experts, and training products to ensure quality.
- Coordinate with trainers to support the development and implementation of trainings and capacity building.
- Project manage all aspects of training series and events.
- Support with training event planning and coordinating logistics, such as venues and food vendors, coordinating trainer schedules, and organizing agenda and curricula.
- Facilitate in-person and virtual training events.
- Continually assess training and capacity building effectiveness (through administering surveys and other methods) and seek to make improvements to the training series.
- Work with TAY SOC to develop a comprehensive evaluation plan for the training series, with concrete metrics and measurable objectives.
- Assist with communications and outreach to expand the reach of the training series across the county.
- Oversee the development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of web-based training materials, exploring online tools for trainings, (e.g. uploading content).
- Explore and implement strategies to increase access to and utilization of web-based training activities for the TAY SOC.
- Develop partnerships with various stakeholders in the areas of behavioral health, equity and guidance, and other teams as necessary for projects.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience organizing trainings, professional development opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness and increase workforce capacity.
- Deep knowledge with and experience implementing initiatives that focus on topics of equity, particularly in delivering services to underserved communities. Experience utilizing trauma-informed practices in serving communities impacted by racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, and gender identity disparities.
- Strong project management skills, including an ability to create sustainable project management and communication systems, such as templates and instructions.
- Self-starter with initiative and professionalism; ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office 365, webinar and teleconference software like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working with public sector agencies, especially behavioral health and/or social service systems.
- Knowledge /understanding of emerging public health practices.
- Experience developing and managing System of Care trainings for public and private providers of behavioral health and social services.
- Demonstrated proficiency using web-based training tools.
Contract
$75.00 to $85.00/hour
This is a 1099 contract position that does not receive benefits or have taxes withheld.
