This Public Health Nurse 2 is the journey level of the series and applies generalized knowledge of public health nursing competencies, principles, and procedures. Incumbents independently provide a broad range of services to individuals, families, communities, and systems. At this level, the Public Health Nurse 2 has onsite support from a higher-level Public Health Nurse to assist with care of highly complex and/or unique situations, primarily working in the Public Health Center and occasionally traveling to outlying areas or communities to perform itinerant nursing services; however, itineration is not the incumbent’s predominant responsibility.

The working environment you can expect:
Kenai is surrounded by recreational opportunities unique to Alaska. The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge encompasses approximately two million acres and provides over 200 miles of established trails and water routes. Kenai Public Health Center is located near Old Town Kenai, just half a mile from the beach. The Health Center is staffed with six Public Health Nurses, an APRN, and three support staff.

- Valid Alaska Registered Nursing License--Alaska Nurse Practice Act: Nursing Statutes AS 08.68, Nursing Regulations 12 AAC 44;
- Valid Driver’s License;
- CPR Certification
