As an Army Public Affairs Mass Communication Specialist, you’ll supervise and assist administration of Army public affairs programs by researching, preparing, and distributing news releases, articles, web-based material, and photographs on Army personnel and activities. You’ll gather information within your unit and around the Army, you’ll develop ideas for news articles, arrange and conduct interviews, write news releases, feature articles and editorials, and conduct media training.

TRAINING:
Job training for an Army Public Affairs Mass Communication Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 21 weeks and 3 days of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Meade, MD with on-the-job instructions.

Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part takes place in the field, including learning hands-on how to write news stories, operate a camera, and edit newspapers and photographs.

- Photojournalism (photography journalism)
- Public speaking
- Media relations
FUTURE CIVILIAN CAREERS:
