PSM and Utilities Supervisor
ThePSM Utilities Supervisorensures the plant follows and maintains the Corporate PSM Program requirements. This position will also oversee plant utilities and will also assist in leading sustainability efforts at this plant.
Hours: M-F Business hours; this role may require off shift hours, weekend and holidays are needed.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the Corporate Ammonia PSM Program is implemented and maintained at this plant.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HR, Environmental, and Safety staff to ensure hazards are identified, risk is appropriately managed, and the required 14 elements of the PSM regulation comply.
- Directs reporting and regulatory compliance for EPA's Risk Management Plan (RMP).
- Reviews and ensures updates to existing PSM program on a continuous basis and PSM documentation and procedures.
- Directs and leads the utilities maintenance staff on the service, repair, and preventative maintenance of the plant utility systems to prevent interruptions of daily plant operations.
- Ensure utility systems operate at optimal performance, respond to utility system concerns, support Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Critical Maintenance (CM) schedules, job plans and assist utility mechanics as needed.
- Ensures staff is adequately trained on operational procedures. Assure a safe working environment. Perform preventative safety checks on all systems.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range maintenance plans. Responsible for the daily/weekly/monthly and yearly utility checks. Oversee the development of utility system SOP's.
- Reviews operating and maintenance procedures on all utility systems for compliance with environmental, health and safety programs.
- Assist in plant resource conservation and sustainability efforts.
Required Experience/Knowledge:
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance manufacturing experience and a bachelor's degree, OR 10+ years of experience in industrial maintenance manufacturing.
- Must have manufacturing experience working with ammonia, refrigeration, boilers, and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Related work experience should consist of working in a food processing facility or chemical manufacturing plant that required the use of PSM regulated system(s).
- Willingness to get Level 3 Garden City Ammonia Certification
- 1+ year of leadership experience
- HS/GED required.
Competencies Skills Required:
- Experience with implementing Process Safety Management Plans, Risk Management Plans and General Duty Clause for ammonia.
- Experience working with vendors and contractors on design, installation, and repair of Utility related systems.
- Experience creating and managing utility capital projects.
- Ability to collaborate with others, be detailed oriented and have exceptional organizations skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA's Process Safety Management regulations, EPA's Risk Management Plan regulations, General Duty Clause regulations, emergency planning and understanding of industry engineering practices for PSM required processes.
- Proficiency in standard business software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
