JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Risk Services, PRS, is currently seeking a Regional Underwriting Manager, responsible for a $300M book of business, to work with the Pacific/Southwest Region Underwriting Leader to contribute to the achievement of business results for the Dallas and Houston Branches. The successful candidate will have direct reporting relationships for a team of Underwriters.
Key Responsibilities:
The Regional Underwriting Manager will be responsible for the execution of strategies to exceed profit and growth goals, development and coaching of underwriting talent and cultivation of strong partnerships internally with field and home office networks; as well as externally with key agents and producers. This individual will have the opportunity to interact directly with underwriting center leadership, field, home office and territory management on a regular basis.
This position will be expected to develop strong relationships with producers along with traditional producer travel throughout the territory. The successful individual will be responsible for executing a portfolio management learning curriculum designed to improve business acumen among underwriters and ensure underwriting work contributes to the health of the portfolio while supporting retention and attraction of top talent.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Financial Growth and Profit: Drive processes that lead to the achievement of growth and profit targets. Execute on underwriting strategy and assure underwriting integrity.
- Staff Development: Develop and train staff for high level performance in line with PRS's demanding underwriting and service standards. Continually provide expertise and knowledge where needed. Create a work environment that inspires high levels of performance, facilitates teamwork and capitalizes on each individual's strengths and differences.
- Underwriting Service: Manage the underwriting service aspects of the producer relationships to achieve and exceed growth goals with strong profit results. Work with producers to increase business opportunities for Chubb. Partner with the other areas of PRS, including field marketing and customer service, to coordinate excellent service for producers. Achieve policy issuance standards, quality output and responsive service.
- Operating Efficiency: Optimize underwriting resources by critically reviewing the type of work in the center and regularly advance recommendations to improve operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness that ensures use of the full power of the organization.
- Relationship Management: Communicate often and well with a clear, consistent message to customers, producers, employees and constituents. Work in tandem with the branch and field management structure to partner on key producer management issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of Personal Lines strategies, underwriting practices, products and workflows
- Ability to articulate and convey a clear vision of Chubb's philosophy, market and underwriting strategy, and business issues
- Ability to drive customer focus by incorporating customer perspectives with business and profit imperative
- Strong verbal and written communication and effective presentation and negotiation skills along with an ability to manage multiple and oftentimes competing priorities.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
- Experience executing business plans and handling complex accounts
- Demonstrated record of teamwork, initiative and individual accountability
- Experience managing critical business processes, identifying trends and affecting outcomes
- Collaborative team player that effectively balances multiple priorities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of advanced high net worth personal lines underwriting experience
- Experience leading a team of Underwriters preferred
