Position: Protective Services Risk Specialist
Under the direction of the Loss Control Manager, this position performs protective services risk management-related services membership-wide. Responsibilities include: the development, review, and modification of programs, policies, and procedures for members; development and presentation of training programs; liaison to member protective service departments; serves as an in-house consultant on protective service matters; builds and maintains partnerships; authors protective service publications regularly circulated to member agencies; and takes on roles with the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides guidance on the Department of Justice required policies for law enforcement; Conducts CVMIC agency policy reviews and provides suggestions.
- Maintains and builds upon CVMIC-WILEAG partnership; Serves on the WILEAG Board and as the Training Committee Chairperson; Chairs and coordinates associated meetings, hosts regional training programs, and coordinates informational videos.
- Develops Protective Services Distance Learning content and fosters methods of outreach to members including informative videos, webinars, newsletters, and social media.
- Analyzes Protective Services Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Physical Damage (APD) claims and creates recommendations to reduce future loss.
- Conducts research and generates Protective Services-related newsletter articles based upon emerging issues, trends, and needs.
- Conducts research on regulatory standards, interpretations, and protective services best practices.
- Plans, develops, updates, and/or facilitates Protective Services regional programs and roundtables.
- Assists in facilitating membership-wide protective services offerings.
- Manages the Law Enforcement Risk Reduction program for all CVMIC members.
- Manages the Critical Incident Response program and provides timely response to member incidents.
- Manages the Protective Services Peer Support program.
- Establishes and maintains relationships and/or partnerships with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), the Law Enforcement Standards Board, Wisconsin Training & Standards, Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association (WCPA), Wisconsin Law Enforcement Death Response Team (LEDR), Lexipol, PowerDMS, Deer Creek, etc.
- Remains abreast of legislative updates and police reforms.
- Engages and consults with the CVMIC Advisory Panel of Police Chiefs.

- Conducts research on regulatory, legal, risk management issues and concerns.
- Enhance skills in technology to assist the organization in service enhancement.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or Safety or equivalent;
- Three - five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Law Enforcement Administrative/Supervisory experience is preferred.
Knowledge of:
- The methods and techniques of risk management.
- The methods and techniques of Protective Services.
- The requirements, laws, and duties of public entities in the State of Wisconsin.
- The requirements, laws, and duties of Protective Services.
- The principles and practices of loss control and safety.
- The principles and practices of Protective Services.
- Computer software including presentation software, data base management, claims software (Origami), word processing and other related areas.
- Develop and present effective training programs.
- Plan and coordinate activities to meet work objectives.

- Communicate professionally, timely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Work with limited supervision.
- Operate a computer and understand/learn various computer software programs.
