Position Overview:
- The Protection and Control Engineer will develop design solutions for client's protection and control and associated communication systems, perform system disturbance analysis and recommend protective relaying system modifications and / or additions.
- This role will assure adherence to applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards to maintain and operate client assets.
- This role will support the current qualified resource gap in protection and control engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering design for the protection and control and associated communication systems.
- Perform system disturbance analysis and recommend protective relaying system modification and / or additions, if required.
- Perform short circuit studies and other calculations as required to establish relay settings.
- Perform NERC / NPCC compliance related tasks.
- Provide site support during project commissioning or disturbance investigation.
Skills:
- Proficient in the engineering and design of Protection and Control systems specific to the electric utility industry.
- Working knowledge of protective relaying systems and their various components.
- Familiarity with developing relay settings and understanding of calculations.
- Familiarity with programming microprocessor-based protective relays.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
