ExoTerra is microsatellite company specializing in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. The company develops Hall Thrusters, propulsion modules, microsatellites and launch vehicle upper stages.
Candidates must have experience with electric propulsion.
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time Electric Propulsion Engineer. The hired employee will be responsible for completing design, analysis, and test tasks as they relate to sub-kilowatt Hall-effect Thrusters, xenon propellant flow control systems, and pressure management systems. This position is open to candidates ranging from entry-level to senior level experience. Senior level candidates will be responsible for small to medium sized projects or components and will be expected to work with little supervision and solve complex problems independently.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Using industry standard tools, the propulsion engineer will be expected to perform job duties under general direction to complete detailed part CAD and drawings for Hall-effect thrusters and flight propellant fluidic systems. Experience designing for the space environment preferred.
- Document and implement necessary design changes to Hall thruster detailed parts to meet Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test principles.
- Use industry standard tools to analyze thruster performance data, electric and magnetic fields using industry standard methods and tools. Ensure designs and builds meet customer requirements.
- Perform testing on Hall-effect thrusters ranging from thrust measurements to environmental testing. Document test results and customer requirements, assist with the development of production procedures for designs. Experience testing electric propulsion thrusters, low thrust measurements, and/or plasma diagnostics preferred.
- Work with manufacturing team to implement and improve designs and thruster and fluid system builds.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field
- 2 years’ experience in space industry
- Experience with Electric Propulsion
- Experience with CAD software
- Good communication skills
- Location: Littleton, CO (Required)

- Must be authorized to work in the United States (Required)
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field
- Experience with detailed part drawings and drawing release processes in CAD software
- Experience interacting with configuration and data management systems
- Experience with Hall Thruster Design, Analysis & Test
- Experience with plasma, magnetic and electric field analysis
- Experience designing for the space environment
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills
- Experience with propulsion design: 2-4 years (M.S. Degree considered to be 2 years)
Schedule
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
