GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB
Terra Nova Technologies a global leader in solutions for Material Handling in the Mining industry is looking for a team-oriented, talented individual to join our global group as a Proposal Specialist. In this job role, you will be responsible for estimating, generating, and managing proposals as part of the Business Development team. You will work closely with our sales/estimating teams to identify and follow up on opportunities, determine requirements, and promptly prepare and manage quotations. This position is an individual contributor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the end-to-end proposal process for services, including analysis, proposal writing, cost calculation and pricing, and proposal submission, ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with sales teams, product managers, project managers, and subject matter experts to develop winning proposals that showcase our services' value proposition.
- Provides feedback on proposal input from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery.
- Coordinate proposal reviews and approvals with internal stakeholders, ensuring all feedback is incorporated and proposals are submitted on time.
- Delivers cost estimates of services/products or projects with collaborations from subject matter experts.
- Estimates current material and labor costs for projects with collaborations from subject matter experts.
- Develop and maintain proposal content, templates, standards, and tools that can be reused across the organization to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposal process.
- Conduct post-proposal debriefs to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepares booking packages and prepares internal kickoff meetings with key stakeholders when the proposal returns as PO from a customer.
- Promotes a culture of personal and team safety, including others who may be affected by the company's operational activities.
- Assist and support project management to ensure continuity between the tender and project execution.
- Be prepared to travel for site visits and inspections and to work in branch or joint venture partner offices. Travel may include international assignments. Travel period may range from one day to several weeks. A valid passport is required to be always maintained.
- Conduct risk reviews and checking duties in a manner that is responsive to corporate needs to ensure accuracy.
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
The incumbent must have knowledge of the following software:
- Estimating software as Hard Dollar will be an advantage.
- Productivity software including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Use of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 scheduling software is an asset
- Use of AutoCAD engineering design software is an asset.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although not directly responsible for other staff, the role includes mentoring and assisting more junior personnel in the development of estimating principles and the writing of technical and commercial documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Spanish is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of estimating experience.
Experience in materials handling or mining projects.
Experience in OEM or EPC mining, mineral processing and/or materials handling.
Experience in the role of estimator, scheduler, contracts administrator and/or project/study engineer is an advantage.
Experience in associated construction, development and production projects is an advantage.
Professional experience with an international company.
Experience with proposal management tools and technologies.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of mining and material handling is an advantage.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Must be able to work in a position of trust in a highly confidential area of the business.
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines, work under pressure, and have strong analytical skills.
- Must work with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internally with the engineering, finance and operations groups.
- The position requires knowledge of state and federal mining acts and regulations.
- A strong command of the English language both verbal and written is required.
- The ability to communicate in Spanish.
