Property Accounting Manager - Commercial Real Estate

A tier-1, publicly traded company in Orange County is seeking a Property Accounting Manager to help lead their Property Accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting, the Property Accounting Manager will help manage financial reporting, coordinate month-end close and review annual property budgets and analyze variances. This is an excellent role for an experienced Senior Property Accountant, Property Accounting Manager, or mid-sized real estate company Controller with a strong commercial or residential property accounting background looking to join one of the fastest growing and largest publicly traded companies in Orange County.

Responsibilities

• Review financial statement packages, including journal entries, general ledger review, bank reconciliations and balance sheet support schedules
• Ensure financial packages are completed and delivered in a timely and accurate manner to Property Management leadership and Property Managers
• Coordinate month-end close and production of financial statements
• Review annual property budgets and analyze variances
• Review audit schedules and respond to auditor requests during financial and SOX audits
• Interpret complex lease language and review CAM reconciliations
  
• Review financial statements variances and provide explanations to management
• Review financials for errors/issues and determine adjusting entries
• Review Accounts Receivables and advise AR team on application adjustments
  

Requirements

• Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 3+ years of Property Accounting experience preferred, with supervisory or reviewer experience a plus
• Yardi experience a plus
• Experience within a commercial real estate company a plus
• CAM reconciliations preparation or review a plus
• Publicly traded company experience a plus, not required
• Highly proficient with Excel required
• Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of success within a corporate accounting department
