The Property Accounting Manager is responsible for all real estate accounting operations. The role will also assist with the annual external audit and quarterly review processes. Furthermore, the role will prepare the relevant documentation required for financial reporting. This role reports to the Assistant Controller. This role is located onsite at our Corporate Office in Boston Heights, OH with a hybrid schedule.
Key fundamental skill sets for this role will be:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the real estate related accounting transactions.
- Responsible for the application of lease accounting standard ASC 842 including review of all new, amended, or extended real estate and equipment leases and review of fixed assets resulting from lease operations.
- Execute all rent payment review.
- Assist with providing technical expertise and leadership to the finance organization on the treatment of real estate accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB regulations.
- Ensure internal control policies and procedures are in place and maintain SOX compliance.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with other Accounting, Finance, IT, Legal, and Real Estate functions, and provide support and expert guidance for special projects and programs.
- Support ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- CPA is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting or relevant experience
- Big 4/Regional Public accounting experience is strongly preferred
- Experience in SOX control execution and documentation
- Strong knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC Rules and Regulations
- Strong research skills and ability to form opinions/interpretations on accounting standards
- Very proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and financial software applications
- Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
- Must have a high level of ethics, integrity, judgment, and confidentiality
