We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Property Accountant to join our finance team. This is a permanent, full-time position responsible for managing and overseeing the financial aspects of our commercial properties portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting, financial statement preparation, and general ledger accounting. The successful candidate will also have exceptional skills in month-end-close, bank reconciliation, journal entries, account reconciliation, cash flow management, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MRI. This role requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for assigned properties, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
2. Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports, including variance analysis.
3. Conduct regular bank reconciliations and manage cash flow effectively.
4. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all business transactions are recorded accurately in the general ledger.
5. Oversee the accounts payable and receivable, and perform account reconciliations.
6. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for assigned properties.
7. Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary information.
8. Maintain and update accounting records and files.
9. Analyze financial data and provide financial advice to management.
10. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting or a related field.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with MRI or similar accounting software.
4. Solid understanding of general ledger functions and financial statements preparation.
5. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
6. Proven experience in month-end-close, bank reconciliation, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
7. Excellent analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
8. Strong numerical proficiency and experience with cash flow management.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
12. CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
