Job Summary
We are in search of a meticulous and highly motivated Property Accountant to join our team. This role involves providing accounting support for various active real estate multi-family housing projects and reporting directly to the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end accounting tasks across multiple entities.
- Demonstrate adeptness with the general ledger, encompassing the preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Analyze and assemble financial information into diverse statements, including Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement.
- Collaborate with on-site property managers to facilitate pre-close and month-end close activities, ensuring the timely completion of accounting processes.
- Provide essential accounting support to on-site managers and staff.
- Monitor available cash, report balances, and update information as necessary.
- Conduct bank account reconciliations with a keen focus on accuracy.
- Prepare replacement reserve requests and coordinate funding with financial institutions.
- Reconcile petty cash and other general accounts payable, confirming adherence to approval workflow.
- Review final account statements meticulously and process security deposit refunds promptly.
- Ensure compliance with income and expense budgeting, generating monthly variance reports.
- Assist in the year-end audit by collaborating with external auditors, offering timely research data.
- Handle year-end responsibilities, including the meticulous preparation of 1099s.
- Manage general office duties, incorporating effective filing systems.
- Contribute actively to various ad-hoc projects as directed by the accounting team.
Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned duties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with RealPage Accounting & OneSite.
- Previous multifamily back-office accounting experience is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field of study.
