Intertek is searching for a Project Lead to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Hillside, IL office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building Science Solutions. The ideal candidate for this position will have an interest in building enclosure consulting for new design, construction and/or diagnosis of existing building enclosures. They should also have an interest in leading project teams, developing a client base, building the local BSS team, and contributing technically to our BSS teams.
What you will do:
- Assist and perform inspection work at construction sites.
- Assist with field testing at construction sites.
- Prepare reports for inspection and testing work.
- Perform review of architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals pertaining to the building enclosure with Bluebeam software.
- Assist staff on major design, inspection, or investigative projects.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Degree in a technical field (Architecture or Engineering) desired, or equivalent related experience Technical knowledge of building construction is preferred.
- Good technical writing skills as well as consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team.
- Work closely with staff and clients to obtain information or ensure drawing accuracy.
- Knowledge and experience of the construction process.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications.
- Assist the local office, including areas outside of Building Science Solutions.
- Technically competent and able to effectively communicate with clients, designers, contractors, and coworkers, both in writing and orally.
- Maintain positive and strong relationships with staff members including those outside of Building Science Solutions.
- Ability to perform work from scaffolding, ladders, boom-lifts, roof levels, etc.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, crawl, reach overhead, push, pull or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks and be comfortable in both indoor office and outdoor construction environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word.
- Fluent in English for the safe and effective performance of the job.
- Local and overnight travel as necessary for assigned projects and tasks.
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Preferred Skills:
- Field experience with diverse building enclosures systems including; air barriers, roofing, fenestrations, waterproofing, and claddings.
- Safety Training/Scaffold Certification.
- Building enclosure testing knowledge and/or experience.
