About the Job
Reporting to the Manager of Compensation Services, the HR Specialist supports the planning, execution, and monitoring of various HR projects and activities. The HR Specialist serves as a liaison between the project team members, the HRIS system(s) support team(s), the CHR functional team(s), and campus departments in efforts that support HR systems effectively serving the needs of the internal teams as well as the campus clients. Supports HR projects and initiatives by coordinating resources, schedules, and information. The HR Specialist also provides technical and administrative support to the Compensation Manager and team. Additional duties include the design and preparation of analytical reports for multiple areas of CHR including compensation data. The HR Specialist develops ad-hoc reports from the database in response to requests from CHR's client departments, UCOP, and the AVC of Campus Human Resources. The types of analysis may include the development of metrics and dashboards on subjects such as completion rates for performance evaluations, UCPath reporting, and a variety of other personnel subjects.
Department Summary:Campus Human Resources provides a full range of human resource management services through its various units, including Health and Welfare Benefits, Compensation and Classification, Personnel Policy development and compliance, Employee and Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning, HR Information Systems, the Staff and Faculty Counseling Center, Learning and Organizational Development and the HR/Payroll Operations Center. The UCLA Compensation Unit is responsible for the classification and reclassification of positions, managing classification systems, and overseeing wage and salary programs in collaboration with campus stakeholders. Additionally, the Compensation Unit administers JDXpert, a comprehensive position description management system and workflow engine designed to facilitate classification and reclassification requests.

- Ability to work following established policies and procedures and in proper sequence with attention to detail, strong judgment, and analysis. (Required)

- Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Preferred)
