Project Manager – Maritime Shipping Portal Supporting Port of Los Angeles
Sierra Cybernetics is seeking an experienced Project Manager to work for us supporting our local government client – the Port of Los Angeles (POLA).
This will be a hybrid working situation with the on-site work at POLA offices in San Pedro.
This is expected to be a one-year plus contract position.
You must be a green card holder or US citizen. H1-B candidates need NOT apply.
You will be the PM supporting the implementation and management of all aspects of POLA’s Port Optimizer project, a first-of-its-kind information portal designed to digitize maritime shipping data for cargo owners and supply chain stakeholders through secure, channeled access.
Multiple projects are being implemented to enhance the capabilities and functionalities of Port Optimizer to enhance supply chain performance through real-time, data-driven insights in a single portal.
Requirements
• Minimum five years of recent experience managing complex projects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.)
• Work effectively with a cross-functional team, multi-tasking, effective time management
• Proficient in authoring, editing, presenting documents; providing trainings to end-users
• Ability to translate complex ideas into simple language for non-technical audience
Duties include
1. Operations
- Maintain thorough knowledge about functions and features of the Port Optimizer
- Ability to provide demonstrations of the system and prepare reports.
2. Project Implementation
- Assess any new functionalities needed/proposed
- Track status of modules/functions being implemented
- Work with vendor to prepare project status reports
- Review deliverables and ensure all features/functionalities are implemented
- Provide first level of approval for completed deliverables and coordinate with stakeholders for sign-off
3. Contract Management
- Manage all aspects of contract preparation
- Coordinate with various stakeholder divisions and prepare necessary documentation
- Review and finalize scope
- Review and finalize deliverables iv. Prepare Board report and perform all tasks for the submission process
v. Prepare presentation for the Board
- Ensure contract compliance
- Function as liaison with Risk Management for insurance compliance
4. Budget
- Identify budget request for each FY
- Track actual expenditures against budgeted amount
- Reconcile actuals and explain variances
- Review account analysis report for actuals reported
- Prepare project expenditure reports
5. Invoice Management
a. Receive, review, verify, route invoices and ensure payment
6. Grants Administration
- Identify grant opportunities and coordinate with the stakeholder divisions and management on the plan for applying for grants
- Determine the scope/projects
- Prepare or work with vendor to prepare the submission documents
- Act as liaison for the agency issuing the grant and perform all required coordination
- Coordinate with Contracts and Purchasing, and Accounting divisions
- Submit required internal documentation
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements
- Submit reports and invoices in compliance with grant requirements
- Assign budget on ERP for each FY based on anticipated expenses
- Track reimbursements received
