We aim to be the primary service provider for the people and entities responsible for the care, movement, and long-term preservation of art and culture. To that end, our Project Manager of Special Projects is responsible for finding, planning, overseeing, and executing a variety of complex projects, from initial planning to final implementation. In addition, the candidate will work independently and collaboratively across various internal groups to execute multiple concurrent and unique projects, providing mentorship to project managers and art handlers alike.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support, oversee and manage project activities - track project progression, identifying potential risks or issues, while developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
- Discharge standards that meet or exceed industry best practices
- Actively support team byproviding guidance, problem solving, oversight, training, & mentorship across the organization, both directly and while overseeing projects in the field
- Works closely with other departments, business support functions, and external partners (i.e. third party vendors) to meet and exceed client expectations, while maintaining compliance to Federal and State requirements
- Utilize a consultative approach to determine technical requirements, design solutions, define dependencies and critical paths, assess risks and build proposals that allow the Senior Project Manager to efficiently manage and maintain profitability through the determined variables agreed upon by all parties.
- Manage costs and ensure projects are delivered within or on budget, subject to scope change; create and review invoices for accuracy, and ensure invoices are approved in a timely manner in accordance with contracted specifications
- Develop and manage a balanced pipeline of opportunities through regular submission of requested proposals, client referrals or other leads
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years experience in Project Management, with a successful track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- 1 year experience in Supervisory Capacity (i.e. Team Lead, Supervisor)
- 1-3 years Rigging experience - understanding the principles of rigging and the ability to create rigging plans.
- Knowledge - Project estimation, including time and materials requirements, and WBS development; project management software; logistics and transportation planning; and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and building plans.
- Skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with clients, team members, and subcontractors; excellent organization; time management; recognize when to ask for help; awareness of limitations; and demonstrate the ability to seek guidance from experts and coworkers.
- Prior experience in the fine art services industry is preferred, but not required.
- Must be willing to travel; occasionally with short notice, but typically for short duration. A longer duration of travel (1-3 weeks) is occasionally required.
