A Day in the Life of a Project Manager
You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You will lead projects teams and ensure they deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure projects in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. The projects focus on the planning, design and implementation of bicycle, pedestrian, safe routes to school, and transit priority projects. The duties of this position require the ability to coordinate predictable but highly complex processes to ensure the efficient progression of each project. Many of the projects under this position's review are high profile and of interest to the public, stakeholders, and elected officials. This position also serves a specialized role in convening and documenting the decisions reached through cross-Divisional, Departmental and Agency coordination through standing and special-called meetings. You will develop business relationships with clients and participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Transportation Design (15+ years for Principal level)
- 5+ years of experience serving in a project or design management role with a track record of progressively responsible work, managing projects
- Willingness to perform site or client visits
- General knowledge of project performance metrics and strategies for monitoring them
- Interest in multimodal and active transportation issues and design (specifically for bicycle, pedestrian, Safe Routes to School and/or transit integration) for all ages and abilities
- Knowledge of GDOT Plan Development Process
- Experience preparing transportation and local agency permit documents
- Experience developing construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications

Work Schedule for a Project Manager
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Atlanta office of Toole Design is conveniently located downtown, within easy walking distance to MARTA and accessible by several bike routes. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
