SUMMARY
Paragon, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a Project Manager III to support the Folsom, California office. Primarily responsible for the daily management, supervision, coordination and successful completion of environmental remediation projects to meet the cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and bidding of major projects, including managing small, medium, and large, complex projects for both public and private sectors. This is a technical position requiring a degree in geology.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements office policies and establishing standards and procedures; measuring results against standards; making necessary adjustments.
- Manage employee schedules and troubleshoot scheduling conflicts as they arise.
- Establish team atmosphere through leadership and employee development.
- Mentor and train junior geologists on field work, sample collection, borehole logging, and report writing.
- Monitors quality control, safety, and efficiency for projects.
- Reviews documents to address technical issues.
- Occasional travel to jobsites will be required.
- Estimating self-performed/subcontractor work, pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Recommending vendors and subcontractors for various projects, discussing and obtaining appropriate quotations in coordination with the purchasing department.
- Interfacing with the client, internal teams, and subcontractors to provide reports and ensure quality deliverables.
- Tracking awarded contracts with EACs as required through review of cost reports and discussions with project and construction management.
- Supporting program management.
- Coordinating, supervising and reviewing work of assigned project personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Lead and support business development and proposal preparation.
- Client contact and networking.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KSA’s AND LICENSURE
Education & Experience Required (minimum qualifications):
- 15+ years of experience on remediation projects.
- BS in Geology or similar field.
- Experience with OSHA and other regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- California Professional Geologist Registration preferred.
- Experience directing, training, and motivating field personnel.
- Must be able to obtain military base passes and be able to operate motor vehicles on federal facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (minimum qualifications):
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Experience with scheduling.
- Ability to identify value-engineering alternatives.
- Prior advanced cost proposal and work breakdown development experience.
- Ability to prepare and review technical documents.
- Must be task oriented, self-motivated and the inherent ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work as team member as well as a team lead.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at times lift and carry as much at 60 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.

Job is performed in a modern office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. This position requires occasional driving and working out of doors in extreme heat/cold and possibly rainy weather. Must be able to navigate all typical worksite conditions. May require travel up to a week out of office (up to 20% travel).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of project personnel.
- General Direction: receive general guidance with respect to overall objectives; operate within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:
Reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations. As a condition of employment, candidates for posted positions must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
