Fiber Optic Project Manager
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fiber Optic Project Manager to join our team onsite in Arlington, VA. This role offers a highly competitive pay rate of $75-$85 per hour and involves leading critical fiber network initiatives. As the driving force behind project execution, you will oversee design, implementation, and stakeholder coordination to ensure the successful management and expansion of the county’s fiber infrastructure.
About the Role:
In this high-impact role, you will lead fiber network projects, managing the full lifecycle of planning, design, and implementation. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining excellent communication across all stakeholders. This is a 2 year initial contract and an onsite position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Oversee fiber network initiatives, driving project timelines, resource allocation, and milestone achievement.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Design Oversight: Partner with Fiber and Network Engineers to create, review, and refine engineering designs using AutoCAD and GIS tools.
- Cost Estimation: Develop and manage accurate project cost estimates in alignment with contractual frameworks.
- Field Support: Coordinate and oversee field activities, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and project specifications.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate comprehensive project reports, analyze technical data, and provide insights for effective decision-making.
- Contract Management: Ensure contracts align with project objectives, compliance requirements, and budgetary constraints.
Qualifications:
- Project Management Expertise: Proven track record in leading complex fiber network projects with cross-functional teams.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map, and/or ESRI-based GIS platforms.
- Telecommunications Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with Telcordia SR-1421 – Blue Book – Manual of Construction.
- Preferred Certification: BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer).
- Analytical & Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and resources simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Relevant Experience: Hands-on experience in fiber network design, project estimation, and vendor management.
