About the Job
The Project Manager has primary ongoing responsibility, alone or with a small team, for the management of projects of small to medium size and complexity, with limited interdependency with other projects.
The Project Manager will ensure the project produces the required products within the specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits, using the appropriate methods and tools.
The Project Manager will manage projects from original concept through final implementation/warranty, managing stakeholder involvement, customer satisfaction and customer impact throughout, using established governance standards and processes.
Essential Function
- Identifies, assesses and manages risks to ensure the success of the projects
- Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerance
- Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives of medium size and complexities
- Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge, and enables effective prioritization of requirements
- Investigates, manages, and applies authorized requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy
- Ensures new/updated processes are tested and will deliver planned business benefits
- Ensures test plans and outcomes are used to specify user instructions.
- Accountable for managing the project budget and project CBA
- Collates required financial data and reports for analysis and to facilitate decision making on projects
- Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded
- Occasionally required to work late evening and weekends as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- 3+ years’ experience as a project manager, ideally gained in either an insurance or insurance related business or a fast paced retail environment
- Knowledge & experience of Agile delivery methodology desirable.
- Knowledge of centralized project portfolio management systems a plus.
- Proven stakeholder management and written and oral communication skills.
- Proven analytical and problem solving sills, with ability to identify and resolve issues with some guidance.
- Ability to identify dependencies impacting current work assignments.
- Proven collaborative skills and excellent facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Displays attention to detail and ability to produce concise and accurate work.
- Strong desire for continuous improvement.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or apprenticeship and/or equivalent experience.
- PMP, PgMP or PMI-ACP certification.
- Insurance certifications or affiliation with industry group a plus.
Salary
90,000 - 110,000 /year
