Project Estimator, Bridge Construction - Trisian-Global Consulting LLC

Trisian-Global Consulting is seeking a Project Estimator, Bridge Construction to work on-site in Little Rock, Arkansas.  This is a full-time permanent position with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company.

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of Bridge Construction projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Producing cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects and cost estimates for change orders on awarded projects.    
• Develop, implement, participate in and monitor a plan for completing a material and labor take-off from structural and architectural design drawings.
• Take responsibility for complex projects and routinely functions as the estimate team leader.
• Review and verify completeness and distribute project drawings and specifications to estimators assigned to the project.
• Maintains and manages well-developed subcontractor/supplier relationships.
• Obtain pricing for specialty items not contained in the estimating software database.
• Generate estimate summaries and cost recap sheets in Excel.
  Develop preliminary connection design based upon member capacities and loads provided.
• Work with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards.
• Work overtime when required to make required bid dates.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and timeline.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a transferable technical field.
• 3 + years of related experience in steel industry.
• 2-3 years of experience in bridge construction, estimating, or relevant field
• Familiar with steel fabrication processes and techniques and advanced knowledge of construction elements. (welding and constructability)
• Able to read, analyze and interpret complex design documents and specifications.
• Ability to manage time well and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.

Job Description

This position is office based and report to the VP of Sales and Estimating. The scope of work for the position involves executing computer aided and hand take off estimates of structural steel components. This will include an understanding and ability to labor standard components. Tasks will include the development of supporting documentation for the preparation of a complete estimate.

The position will be required to perform take offs of all types of structural steel components and typical detail requirements. Will be required to view vendor and sub-tier quotes to ensure scope compliance with contract documents.

Will produce estimate summaries identifying basic and special requirements for the required scope of work such as buy out items.

Assist in the training of Estimators in training positions.
