About the Job
Are you a serious, direct and analytical person comfortable taking the lead? As a Project Estimator you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs, resources, and time required to complete low and medium voltage industrial power distribution systems, to include onsite power generation and distribution for standby and emergency configurations projects.
This role involves close collaboration with sales and engineering teams to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered and that estimates are both competitive and realistic. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are financially viable and align with client expectations and Prime Power’s standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Preparation: Perform site visits and review project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates. This includes reviewing bid documents to quote projects and packaging and submitting bid documents.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales teams to understand client requirements and with engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data from past projects, market trends, and industry standards to inform estimates.
- Vendor Coordination: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and bids.
- Cost Tracking: Prepare and present cost-tracking reports and forecasts at various project stages.
- Documentation: Maintain an up-to-date database with cost information on products, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential financial risks and assess cost-effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3 or more years proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role, preferably in the power generation, construction or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of electrical power systems including generators, switchgears, transfer switches, system protection and fuel systems.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical documents.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimator Technician (CET) are highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MS Projects, MS Dynamics/CRM, DealHub and/or Great Plains highly preferred.
- Experience with design-build and turnkey projects.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Office-based with customer site visits.
- Collaboration: Frequent interaction with sales and engineering teams.
- Travel: Travel may be required to meet with clients, suppliers, or visit project sites.
