Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager with a strong nuclear background to lead engineering projects in a commercial nuclear power plant setting. The successful candidate will serve as the Structural Lead Engineer, overseeing plant modification packages and coordinating a multidisciplinary team of engineers and vendors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Function as the Structural Lead Engineer, guiding a team in the preparation of structural design change packages and ensuring alignment with project requirements.
Structural Design: Prepare structural calculations and evaluations to support various design activities, including:
Design of piping, cable, and small equipment supports.
Instrument rack design.
Floor load impacts on concrete structures.
Equipment anchoring evaluations and seismic response evaluations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope and requirements, providing support during construction, implementation, and startup activities.
Problem Solving: Exercise sound judgment in assessing complex issues, reviewing completed work for accuracy and compliance with codes and design data.
Discipline Coordination: Coordinate the efforts of the structural group with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project outcomes.
Estimating and Scheduling: Develop material and work-hour estimates, as well as engineering and design schedules for projects.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college.
Licensure: Professional Engineering (PE) license required; ability to obtain a PE license in Texas.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in industrial steel and concrete design.
At least 5 years of experience related to structural modifications and evaluations of commercial nuclear power plants.
Existing Design Engineer qualifications at a commercial nuclear power plant.
Knowledge: Familiarity with nuclear standards and guidelines, including NANTeL certification in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
Field Experience: Field experience at an operating nuclear plant is highly desirable.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Fundamentals of Engineering: Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
